The Worcester Sharks spent St Patrick’s Day in The Keystone State, and hopefully they celebrated before the game because there wasn’t a whole lot to be happy about after being dominated in a 4-1 loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in front of 8183 fans. Penguins defenseman Alexandre Picard had a hat trick to lead Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and John McCarthy had the WorSharks lone goal in the middle of the third period to spoil goaltender Scott Munroe’s shutout bid. Worcester netminder Tyson Sexsmith was lifted at at 18:38 of the opening period after surrendering three goals on just ten shot. Harri Sateri went the rest of the way stopping 25 of 26 attempts.

Sharkspage did not cover the game, for those interested in the particulars you can check out the Worcester Telegram’s “staff report”, which because Bill Ballou didn’t make the trip out west is really just WorSharks broadcaster Eric Lindquist’s rehashed game update found on Worcester’s official site.

On the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton side of things beat writer Jonathan Bombulie from the Citizen’s Voice has a game story and a nice blog posting. New friend Jason Iacona has some Chirps from center ice you may wish to check out.

GAME NOTES
Sebastian Stalberg was the only healthy scratch for Worcester. Jimmy Bonneau, Nick Petrecki, Frazer McLaren, Cam MacIntyre, and Andrew Murray are all at varied states of “injured”.

The three stars of the game were
1. WBS – Picard (hat trick)
2. WBS – O’Reilly (3a)
3. WBS – Munroe (27 saves)

Seeing as he scored the lone goal we’ll give the Sharkspage player of the game to John McCarthy.
